UF Health Cancer specialties are pleased to report that our practices will be increasing in-person visits while continuing, in some cases, to offer telehealth visits. It is important to know that we have implemented a number of measures to safeguard the health of our patients, visitors and caregivers. Located across Archer Road from University of Florida Health Shands Hospital, the 500,000-square-foot facility offers advanced resources for a wide range of oncology, surgery, critical care and emergency/trauma patients. UF Health Shands Cancer Hospital is one of the premiere cancer treatment centers in Florida and the Southeast. UF Health Cancer Center is designated as a Cancer Center of Excellence by the Florida Department of Health.

Inpatient Services

UF Health Shands Cancer Hospital  inpatient services for cancer care include the following:

• adult medical hematology/oncology (cancer- and blood-related diseases)
• bone marrow transplantation
• adult thoracic surgery, excluding lung transplantation
• adult orthopaedics, including trauma, oncology and other adult services
• adult general, oncology and gastrointestinal surgeries
  - pancreas and biliary surgery
  - colorectal surgery
  - minimally invasive gastroesophageal and bariatric surgery 
  - breast, melanoma, sarcoma and endocrine surgery
• adult otolaryngology (cancer only)
• neurosurgical trauma services (Intensive Care Unit/OR component only)
• gynecology/obstetrics

Clinical Trials

The University of Florida is a premiere research institute located in North Central Florida and offers an array of clinical trials as part of its cancer treatment center. UF Health's NaviGATOR app makes it simple to search for and find a clinical trial that suits your needs. With this app, you can learn about the availability of clinical trials from UF Health Cancer Center and apply for enrollment. Physicians can also leverage the NaviGATOR to refer cancer patients to UF Health Cancer Center clinical trials with just one click. Oak Hammock Concierge Center

The portico and open entry of the Andy and Toni Crawford Lobby provide much more than a waiting room. The space welcomes people into this unique healing, smoke-free environment. With the Oak Hammock Concierge Center and a coffee kiosk conveniently located just within the doors, the lobby offers a continuous view of the lush Garden of Hope directly across from the entrance.

Criser Cancer Resource Center

A division of Shands Arts in Medicine

Located on the south east corner of the Andy and Toni Crawford lobby of UF Health Shands Cancer Hospital, the Marshall M. and Paula P. Criser, Jr. Cancer Resource Center is designed to promote patient education and wellness.

Realizing the need for a safe, quiet and private space, the center provides patients and families a relaxing and supportive environment. Here they can stay connected to family and friends through computers with free internet access, find up-to-date information about treatment, recovery and how to cope with bereavement.

The floor-to-ceiling windows on the east and south sides offer ample natural light, and visitors can enjoy views of the Garden of Hope and surrounding scenery in a family room atmosphere.

Experienced staff with backgrounds in oncology, social work, psychology, creative arts and holistic healing, engage patients and families in a variety of educational opportunities and support services designed to foster personal discovery and hands-on patient care.

In addition, the Margo Powers multi-purpose room (located within the center) offers patients, families and staff a place to conduct and enjoy health-related classes, art workshops and educational seminars. It also can host small group meetings.

The Criser Cancer Resource Center is an interdisciplinary facility that complements medical care and helps us support the diverse needs of individuals and families. The center provides information and tools to help patients and their families cope with cancer and its treatments.
