Biography

Joseph Philip, MBBS, MD, FAAP, is board-certified in pediatrics and pediatric critical care medicine. He completed a senior fellowship in Pediatric Cardiac Critical Care from Texas Childrens Hospital (Baylor College of Medicine). Dr. Philip earned his medical degree at Kottayam Medical College in India, and he pursued two pediatric residencies at Thiruvananthapuram Medical College in India and Newark Beth Israel Medical Center in New Jersey. Dr. Philip then completed a fellowship in pediatric critical care medicine at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston.

At UF Health, he serves as a clinical associate professor of pediatrics and is the medical director of the pediatric cardiac intensive care unit.  He is also the program director for the senior instructorship for pediatric cardiac critical care. In addition, he serves as the co-chair of the Pediatric Emergency Work Committee (PERWG) for Shands Childrens Hospital.

Dr. Philip has authored publications on a number of topics in pediatric critical and cardiac critical care, including pediatric patients undergoing extracorporeal cardiopulmonary resuscitation, ventricular assist devices and cardiac-specific over-expression of melanoma differentiation associated gene-5.
