UF Health honored for technological prowess
University of Florida Health has been listed as one of the “Most Wired” health care systems in the United States in 2017 for using advanced technology to improve communication, safety and relationships with patients.
The results of the 19th annual Health Care Most Wired survey were released on July 10 by the American Hospital Association’s Health Forum and appear in Hospitals & Health Networks magazine.
The Most Wired survey and benchmarking study measures information technology use and adoption in hospital systems nationwide. The survey examines how health care organizations are leveraging IT in order to improve performance in the areas of infrastructure, business and administrative management, quality and safety and clinical integration.
“The Most Wired hospitals are using every available technology option to create more ways to reach their patients in order to provide access to care,” said AHA President and CEO Rick Pollack.
The survey found that Most Wired hospitals are using smartphones and remote monitoring to give patients more ways to access health care services and information. The organizations have also increased their use of sophisticated IT monitoring systems to detect privacy preaches, malicious activity or policy violations and to produce an analysis of security alerts.
Most Wired hospitals are changing the way they deliver health care by analyzing data. They are investing in analytics to support new models and effective decision-making. The survey found that 82 percent of hospitals analyze retrospective clinical and administrative data to identify areas that need improvement, and about 75 percent use sophisticated analytics like predictive modeling.
