Elizabeth Hillaker Downs joined the UF Health Science Center Office of News & Communications in 2014. She has a decade of experience writing and editing in higher education contexts, including serving as the managing editor and editor of the University of Florida alumni magazines and as communications writer and editor for Arcadia University’s Office of University Relations in Philadelphia. Hillaker Downs earned a master of arts degree in English literature from the University of Delaware as well as two bachelor degrees from the University of Florida, one in English and the other in journalism. Her work at Arcadia University received a Communicator Award, the leading international awards program recognizing innovative ideas in marketing and communications, for an integrated marketing campaign to recruit admitted students.
Lead the development and implementation of internal and external communications for the Institute for Child Health Policy and the Department of Health Outcomes and Policy at UF’s College of Medicine, including strategic communications planning, web communications, educational recruitment, media relations and programmatic support.
