UF Health pediatric surgeons treat children diagnosed with a variety of acute and traumatic conditions, including:

General surgery
UF Health pediatric surgeons are specially trained to treating the following general surgery conditions in babies, children and teens:
- Breast lesions and tumors
- Childhood tumors – Wilms tumor, neuroblastoma, sarcomas and others
- Endocrine conditions – thyroid cyst and masses, adrenal tumors and ovarian masses
- Feeding tube insertion
- Gastric motility issues – UF Health specializes in treating children suffering from gastric motility problems that range from benign conditions such as constipation to more serious conditions such as achalasia, Hirschsprung’s disease or chronic intestinal pseudoobstruction.
- Head and neck abnormalities – masses, thyroglossal ducts cysts and branchial cleft cysts
- Hernias and hydroceles
- Inflammatory bowel disease – UF Health pediatric surgeons are experts in treating children with all types of colorectal problems, including ulcerative colitis and Crohn’s disease.
- Intestinal obstruction, adhesions and tumors
- Pectus excavatum and pectus carinatum – UF Health pediatric surgeons have performed over 200 chest wall reconstructive procedures, including extensive experience with Nuss procedure.
