Leslye Pennypacker, MD
Leslye Pennypacker, MD is board-certified in internal medicine and geriatrics, with secondary board-certification in hospice and palliative care. Dr. Pennypacker grew up in Gainesville, but relocated to California for undergraduate school at Stanford University and then again to complete medical school at Yale School of Medicine in Connecticut. She completed an internal medicine residency and geriatrics fellowship training in Denver, Colorado, followed by ten years on faculty, at the Medical University of South Carolina, with a joint appointment at the Charleston VA Medical Center.
It was her work with WWII veterans that led her to an interest in palliative care. She was selected as one of 30 core faculty leaders in the U.S. to participate in a Robert Wood Johnson initiative to develop palliative care and end-of-life curriculum for the VA system nationally. After completing a 30 yr career with the VA, Dr. Pennypacker has now transitioned her clinical and teaching skills to UF Health.
