UF Health neurosurgeons are dedicated to advancing the field of neurosurgery by providing leading-edge, compassionate care for children and adults while conducting unparalleled research for the full range of neurosurgical conditions affecting the brain, spinal cord and nerves.

Doctor and patient hugging

We are proud to care for patients at UF Health Shands Hospital, ranked as one of the nation's top hospitals for neurology and neurosurgery by U.S. News & World Report.

UF Health Neurosurgery has comprehensive treatment programs, including minimally invasive surgical options for the treatment of brain tumors, neurovascular diseases, functional disorders and other complex conditions requiring neurosurgery. We offer the full spectrum of treatment options, and we are developing promising new treatments for neurological diseases that are extremely difficult to treat with conventional therapies.

The highly trained neurosurgeons at UF Health Neurosurgery take a patient-centered approach to care. Because no two individuals respond in the same way to any treatment, the multidisciplinary team of specialists provides highly individualized diagnostics and treatment plans. The ultimate goal is to provide the optimal patient experience.

One well-known strength of UF Health Neurosurgery is the ability to translate the latest research into clinical practice, giving people direct and rapid access to the latest treatment breakthroughs. This is especially crucial for people who have complex neurosurgical conditions and limited treatment options.

Another strength of UF Health Neurosurgery is the world-class care offered for stroke and other cerebrovascular conditions. The UF Health Shands Comprehensive Stroke Center is nationally certified by The Joint Commission for offering the highest level of stroke care available anywhere in the world.

Highly trained cerebrovascular/endovascular surgeons have an expert understanding of these conditions and use the most sophisticated technology available to offer people the best possible care. Experienced coordinators guide the care path of every patient who comes to UF Health, from initial contact in the emergency room to hospital care in a particular unit, to transition home or, if necessary, to a rehabilitation facility.
