UF Health Breast Center: Our Multidisciplinary Approach

Optimal management of breast cancer may involve a combination of surgery and radiation and/or medical therapies. Together, these treatments provide patients with the greatest chance of cure and the lowest chance of cancer recurrence.

Mammogram readingCombining different types of treatment - known as multidisciplinary care - is at the core of the breast center team’s approach to treating breast cancer. New patients are reviewed during the center’s weekly Breast Cancer Tumor Board, where UF surgical oncologists, medical oncologists, radiation oncologists, plastic surgeons, radiologists, pathologists, rehabilitation specialists and social workers collaborate to design comprehensive and personalized treatment plans for every patient.

To ensure a seamless transition from your referring physician, a dedicated nurse navigator will coordinate all aspects of your care, from the initial visit and evaluation through treatment and recovery, including follow-up consultations.
