Pediatric Emergency Medicine

Pediatric emergency medicine is a subspecialty of pediatrics that uses operative manual and instrumental techniques on a patient to investigate and/or treat a pathological condition such as disease or injury.

With some of the country’s leading specialists and researchers, our pediatric team is focused on bringing the latest research and most innovative treatments to patients. Families come to UF Health from across the state and country for the type of care offered here. UF Health has one of only a few centers for proton beam radiation in the country, a congenital heart disease center and experts in pediatric surgery and diabetes, to name a few.

UF Health Shands Children's Hospital is located within UF Health Shands Hospital and is the second-largest children's hospital in Florida. It is the only comprehensive pediatric facility in North Central Florida.
