Dr. Sandra Sullivan is a clinical associate professor in the department of Pediatrics and division of Neonatology at the University of Florida in Gainesville, Florida. In May of 1993, Dr. Sullivan earned a bachelor of science degree with honors in Interdisciplinary Studies: Basic Medical Sciences from UF, and in May 1996, an M.D. from UF. She completed a pediatric residency from July 1996-June 1999, and a Fellowship in neonatal-perinatal medicine also at UF. She has held several administrative offices from July 2001 to present, including founder and director of the UF Health Center for Breastfeeding and Newborns, Medical Director of Lactation Services at UF Health Shands Children's Hospital and former Medical Director of the UF Health NICU Follow-Up Clinic. She is board-certified in pediatrics and neonatal-perinatal medicine by the American Board of Pediatrics, and in lactation by the International Board of Lactation Consultant Examiners.


Dr. Sullivan was an integral force in UF Health's achievements of Baby Friendly Hospital designation and re-designation. She serves on several committees, including Baby Friendly Oversight and NICU Lactation committees. She serves as a Chapter Breastfeeding Coordinator for Florida Chapter of the American Academy of Pediatrics, is a fellow of the AAP, and a member of the Academy of Breastfeeding Medicine. She has presented as an invited lecturer and is involved in advocacy and civic activities.
