Type 1 diabetes research at the University of Florida for children and adults
Purpose
Dr. Michael Haller and his team are conducting this study to see if a probiotic has a positive impact on digestive health and general wellness for children and adults with Type 1 diabetes (T1D).

About the study
This study will help determine if a probiotic has a positive impact on digestive health and general wellness for individuals with Type 1 diabetes (T1D).
The probiotic is called Lactobacillus johnsonii N6.2 and you can learn more about it by clicking here.
If you or your child are eligible to participate, you will be asked to complete the following:
- Participate in the study for about 52 weeks
- Use personal computer to access and answer weekly questionnaires
- Provide stool samples
- Be available to chat with the study team on the phone

Who can participate?
Children ages 8 - less than 18 years old who:
- Must be willing to consume a probiotic daily for 24 weeks
- Must be willing to have their blood drawn on 4 different study visits at the University of Florida Gainesville campus
- Meet other study eligibility requirements
Adults 18 - 45 years old who:
- Must be willing to consume a probiotic daily for 24 weeks
- Must be willing to have their blood drawn on 4 different study visits at the University of Florida Gainesville campus
- Meet other study eligibility requirements
