Preeti Manavalan, MD, MSc

Dr. Manavalan is an Assistant Professor of Medicine within the Division of Infectious Diseases & Global Medicine. She completed her medical training at Howard University College of Medicine and her Internal Medicine residency training at Yale University. She stayed on as a Chief Resident at Yale and then worked as a primary care physician and clinician educator prior to pursuing infectious diseases training. She completed her Infectious Diseases Fellowship at Duke University. While at Duke she was selected as a Fogarty Global Health Fellow and completed a Master of Science in Global Health.

Dr. Manavalan is the lead investigator of several studies including an NIMH-funded K23 Mentored Career Development Award that investigates using implementation science to improve mental health and HIV care in Florida, and is mPI of a Fogarty International Center-funded R21 that seeks to improve cardiovascular disease care among people living with HIV in Tanzania. Dr. Manavalan also serves as the Associate Director of the Southern HIV Alcohol Research Center (SHARC - sharc-research.org), one of five NIAAA-funded national consortias for HIV and alcohol research that seeks to improve health outcomes and reduce HIV transmission among diverse populations. Her clinical interests include HIV, HIV-related chronic diseases, and global health.
