For over 30 years, the UF Health Shands Transplant Center has been providing excellence in pediatric transplants. Since 1986, when we performed the first pediatric heart transplant in Florida, UF Health has been an industry leader in transplant medicine. The transplant teams continue to provide unparalleled expertise in highly complex, life-saving treatments for even the smallest patients.
Our heart, lung and kidney teams have the experience and expertise to provide pediatric patients and their families with the best transplant experience possible.
The UF Health Shands Transplant Center uses a coordinated team approach to care, with over 100 staff members dedicated to assisting our patients and their families through every phase of the transplant journey — from pre-transplant to lifelong post-transplant care. These team members include medicine physicians; surgeons; nurses; financial coordinators; donor coordinators; administrative support staff; social workers; physical and respiratory therapists; and psychologists.
