UF psychiatrist named among top doctors in Florida

University of Florida psychiatrist Josepha A. Cheong, M.D., has been listed among the top doctors in Florida in the June issue of Florida Monthly Magazine.

Cheong, associate chairwoman of education and academic affairs in the department of psychiatry and chief of the division of geriatric psychiatry at UF’s College of Medicine, was one of only eight psychiatrists listed and the only psychiatrist from the UF system. The magazine formulated its list after assembling a statewide panel of doctors who selected the physician “they would visit themselves” in each of 40 specialties.

Cheong also serves as an assistant professor of psychiatry and neurology and is the medical director for the Shands at UF inpatient geriatric psychiatry unit. A 1990 graduate of UF’s College of Medicine, she joined the UF faculty in 1994. Cheong recently was named the college’s Clinical Science Teacher of the Year.
