UF researcher receives Gerontological Society of America award
Manfred Diehl, Ph.D., an assistant professor of health policy and epidemiology at the University of Florida’s College of Medicine, has been recognized nationally for his outstanding contributions to the field of aging.
He will be presented with the Margret M. Baltes Early Career Award in Behavioral and Social Gerontology at the Gerontological Society of America’s annual meeting Nov. 16 in Chicago. The award is given annually in memory of Baltes, who headed the Psychological Gerontology Research Unit at the Free University of Berlin and was a major force among international researchers studying aging and Alzheimer’s disease.
Diehl, a researcher with the UF Institute on Aging and a fellow of the society, studies personality development through adulthood and the strategies adults use to cope with stress. Several of his research projects have been funded by grants from the National Institute on Aging. Diehl joined the UF faculty in 2000.
