UF nurse researcher selected for geriatric fellowship program

University of Florida College of Nursing assistant professor Saun-Joo Yoon, R.N., Ph.D., has been selected as one of 12 scholars nationwide to attend New York University's Hartford Institute for Geriatric Nursing.

"We are delighted to foster the research skills of Dr. Yoon because she is conducting significant research in gerontologic nursing," said Terry Fulmer, R.N., Ph.D., F.A.A.N., co-director of the Hartford Institute for Geriatric Nursing.

Yoon, who also is associated with the UF Institute on Aging, has focused her research efforts on older adults' use of alternative therapies, such as taking herbal remedies with prescription medicines.

Now in its fourth year, the Hartford Institute for Geriatric Nursing promotes excellence in nursing research to help shape the quality of health care that older Americans receive. Each summer, a limited number of scholars from different areas of the country are selected to attend an intensive week-long seminar to learn additional skills in critical analysis and research development.
