UF faculty member appointed fellow, named journal deputy editor

University of Florida faculty member Richard W. Briggs, Ph.D., has been named a fellow of the International Society for Magnetic Resonance in Medicine in recognition of his contributions to the organization and its scientific and educational mission.

Briggs, an associate professor of radiology at UF’s College of Medicine, received the honor at the group’s recent annual meeting in Glasgow, Scotland. He also is an affiliate associate professor of chemistry, molecular biology and biochemistry, and nuclear and radiological engineering.

Earlier this year, Briggs was appointed a deputy editor of Magnetic Resonance in Medicine, one of the society’s two journals. The journal publishes original investigations on the development and use of magnetic resonance techniques for medical applications.

He will serve on the journal’s editorial board until the end of 2002. Briggs was the journal’s associate editor from May 1989 through August 1991 and has served on the board in various capacities since then.

The International Society for Magnetic Resonance in Medicine is a nonprofit professional association devoted to furthering the development and application of magnetic resonance techniques in medicine and biology.
