About me

Dr. Fernandez joined the University of Florida College of Dentistry (UFCD) in 2010 as Clinical Assistant Professor in the Division of Prosthodontics - Department of Restorative Dental Sciences. Before joining UFCD she served as Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Prosthodontics at Indiana University School of Dentistry in Indianapolis (IUSD). Dr. Fernandez earned her bachelor’s degree in 1987 in Uruguay; her D.D.S. in 1998 from Facultad de Odontologia de la Republica Oriental del Uruguay in, Uruguay; completed specialty training in prosthodontics at IUSD in 2007 and obtained her M.S. in 2008 from IUSD.

Dr. Fernandez clinical activities have been concentrated in the area of prosthodontics where she has taught didactic and clinical courses to students in second, third and fourth year of the DMD curriculum. Her clinical interest is in complex oral rehabilitation, implants, and cosmetic dentistry as well as removable partial and complete dentures. Dr. Fernandez research has focused on implant prosthodontics and digital denture fabrication using CAD/CAM technology. She was awarded the American College of Prosthodontists Education Foundation Research Fellowship Award in 2006 for her thesis project titled “A comparative study of the accuracy of plastic impression transfer copings for implant restorations”. She also received The Carl and Ida Andres Scholarship Award for clinical excellence in 2007, and the Delta Dental Foundation's Research Award in 2008.
