Biography

Mindaugas Rackauskas, MD, PhD, is an assistant professor and lung transplant surgeon in the University of Florida Department of Surgery. Dr. Rackauskas earned his medical degree and Master’s from the Lithuanian University of Health Sciences. He trained in cardiac and thoracic surgery at the Hospital of Lithuanian University of Health Sciences. He later served as senior registrar of the cardiothoracic department at Galway University Hospital in Galway, Ireland, and then in the Blackrock Clinic and St. James’s Hospital in Dublin. He later was appointed as a locum consultant in thoracic surgery and lung transplantation at Mater Misericordiae University Hospital in Dublin. Most recently, he served as a chief lung transplant fellow in Toronto General Hospital.

Dr. Rackauskas is a member of the Society of Cardiothoracic Surgery in Great Britain and Ireland.

His clinical interests include surgical management of patients with lung and mediastinal cancer, lung transplantation for end-stage lung disease, as well as a range of other general thoracic surgical conditions.

Dr. Rackauskas completed postdoctoral research at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine in 2006, and he was also awarded his PhD in biophysics from the Hospital of Lithuanian University of Health Sciences Kaunas in 2007.
