About me

Hello! My name is Melissa Hall. I am an audiologist and cochlear implant team audiology coordinator at UF Health. Over a decade ago, I joined the University of Florida as a clinical associate professor teaching audiology courses. Today, I directly serve patients and families, specializing in cochlear implants and other implantable hearing devices. One of the most fulfilling aspects of my work is contributing to the quality of life of infants through the universal newborn hearing screening program.

I earned my Doctor of Audiology from the University of Florida after completing my Bachelor of Arts and Master of Arts in Communication Sciences and Disorders at the University of Central Florida. As a board member of the American Cochlear Implant Alliance, I learn from inspiring professionals and bring their innovative knowledge to our team, students, and patients here at UF Health, to enhance our health care practices. Additionally, I am part of the Envoy Medical Cochlear Implant Advisory Board, where I help shape the future of implantable hearing technology.

My motivation to become a doctor came from my desire to positively impact children and their families. Throughout my education, I was interested in understanding the experiences of individuals with hearing loss. I wanted to help people on their journey to the fulfilling life they deserve. Beyond the gratification of working with patients and families, I consider it a privilege to guide students as well. As a lifelong learner, I cherish the daily opportunity to learn from my students, just as they learn from me. Students keep my perspectives fresh and inspired.

In my free time, I enjoy spending time with family, traveling, going saltwater fishing and witnessing my daughter’s dance journey. My daughter’s passion for life is a constant inspiration. Moreover, my husband, a bilateral cochlear implant recipient, has significantly influenced my journey. He taught me American Sign Language, and his unique perspective has played a pivotal role in shaping the passionate healthcare professional that I am today.

As an audiologist, my goal is to continuously enhance efficiency and service delivery to improve outcomes for patients and their families. Simultaneously, I am dedicated to educating students about both current and future clinical practices, fostering a community of lifelong learners in the field of audiology.
