About me

My name is Mehmet Genc, MD, and I am a professor in the University of Florida Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology. I attended medical school at Istanbul University in Turkey and completed a PhD program in clinical bacteriology at Uppsala University in Sweden. Following medical school, I completed my residency training in obstetrics and gynecology at New York Presbyterian Hospital followed by a fellowship at New York Presbyterian Hospital and Brigham and Women’s Hospital with a focus in maternal fetal medicine.

Prior to my appointment at the UF College of Medicine, I held faculty positions at Harvard Medical School, where I served as a member of the fetal care center, and at Weill Cornell Medical College, where I served as the director of perinatal infectious disease services. Since 2012, I have annually been named as one of America’s Top Doctors by Castle Connolly.

My clinical interests include infections affecting the mother and the fetus, cancer and autoimmune diseases in pregnancy, and the diagnoses and management of complex fetal anomalies.
