About me

Hello, my name is Marc Schecter, MD, and I work as a board-certified pediatric pulmonologist. I joined the faculty of the University of Florida in June 2021. I attended medical school at the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston and pursued my pediatric residency and pediatric pulmonary medicine fellowship at The University of Texas Health Science Center in Houston.

Following my training, I joined the faculty at the Baylor College of Medicine where I served as the director of the pediatric pulmonary fellowship program and the medical director of the lung transplant program at Texas Children's Hospital. After eight years in Houston, I was recruited to Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center, where I founded its lung transplant program. As a nationally and internationally recognized pediatric pulmonologist, I am a honored to be considered an asset to our program and to serve as the director of pediatric lung transplantation at UF Health Shands Children’s Hospital, a destination for children with pulmonary disorders.

My clinical interests include pediatric interstitial lung disease, pediatric lung transplantation, pediatric pulmonary hypertension and high-risk bronchoscopies. I am a member of the Organ Procurement and Transplantation Network/United Network for Organ Sharing Thoracic Organ Transplant Committee.
