About me

Hey there, I'm Lisa Warren, an occupational therapist at UF Health, specializing in serving patients with progressive neurological conditions. I hold a master's of health science from the University of Florida and a bachelor of science in occupational therapy from the University of Texas Medical Branch. I'm also board certified in occupational therapy by the National Board for Certification of Occupational Therapy.

My journey into occupational therapy was deeply influenced by my experiences as a child, spending extensive time in hospitals with an ill parent. It was during my college years, while volunteering at a VA hospital, that I witnessed the transformative impact occupational therapy had on patients, helping them regain their dignity and purpose in life. This experience solidified my decision to pursue a career in occupational therapy.

As an occupational therapist, my primary goal is to assist patients with progressive diseases in living meaningful lives while managing the challenges of their conditions. I specialize in working with individuals diagnosed with Parkinson's Disease, multiple systems atrophy, progressive supranuclear palsy, corticobasal syndrome, Lewy body dementia, essential tremor, ataxia, Huntington's disease and dystonia.

I've contributed to several research studies in the field, including a randomized clinical trial comparing burst vs. spaced physical therapy for Parkinson's disease. Some of my published works include "The ice test to differentiate essential tremor from Parkinson's disease tremor" in 2017, "Interdisciplinary Parkinson's Disease Deep Brain Stimulation Screening and the Relationship to Unintended Hospitalizations and Quality of Life" in 2016 and "Impact of an interdisciplinary deep brain stimulation screening model on post-surgical complications in essential tremor patients" in 2015.

Outside of my professional life, I find joy in watching professional hockey, with the Tampa Bay Lightning being my favorite team.
