Biography

James M. Shwayder, MD, JD, is an adjunct associate professor in the UF Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology. He is board-certified in obstetrics and gynecology.Dr. Shwayder completed his undergraduate degree in biology and medical degree from University of Colorado. He then completed his internship and residency in obstetrics and gynecology at Maricopa Medical Center.After residency, he worked in private practice in Virginia and as a clinical associate professor in the department of obstetrics and gynecology at Eastern Virginia Medical School. He then went on to become an associate professor at the University of Colorado. During this time, Dr. Shwayder also earned his doctor of jurisprudence degree at University of Denver. In 2006, he joined the University of Louisville as the director of gynecology and director of fellowship in minimally invasive surgery. Dr. Shwayder subsequently became the vice chair of clinical affairs in the department. In 2012, Dr. Shwayder then made the move to the University of Mississippi where he served as the chair of obstetrics and gynecology.Dr. Shwayder is a fellow of the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology and the American Institute of Ultrasound in Medicine. He is recognized nationally and internationally as an expert in gynecologic ultrasound.
