About me

Dr. Haddix is a graduate of the University of Florida where he received his D.M.D. degree in 1977. After six years of private practice in North Carolina he joined the University of Florida Department of Endodontics faculty in 1984 and he was the Director of Predoctoral Endodontics from 2000 through 2009. In 2010 he was appointed to the position of Assistant Dean for Continuing Dental Education. He continued in this administrative role until 2021, when he stepped down. He also was the Director of the Comprehensive Dentistry CE program for those seeking Mastership in the Academy of General Dentistry from 2003 till 2022. He is a member of several professional organizations, including the American Dental Association, the American Association of Endodontists, the Academy of General Dentistry, Omicron Kappa Upsilon, and is a Fellow of the American College of Dentists. He also is a past National President of Psi Omega Dental Fraternity and the American Dental Intrafraternity Council. He has lectured both nationally and internationally and has done research involving gutta-percha obturation techniques, nickel-titanium instrumentation, and restoring endodontically treated teeth. He was the co-author of the chapter on “Tooth Mophology and Access Cavity Preparation” in the ninth and tenth editions of Pathways of the Pulp. In 1996, he was recognized as the University of Florida College of Dentistry Alumnus of the Year. In 2002, he was the recipient of the College of Dentistry’s Outstanding Faculty Award presented by the American College of Dentists. In 2003, he was selected as the Clinical Teacher of the Year by the senior class and was selected by the Florida Dental Association as the Dental Educator of the Year. In 2022, Dr. Haddix received the Dr. Frank J. Collins Lifetime Achievement Award from the Florida Academy of General Dentistry.
