Description

Your mitral valve helps blood on the left side of your heart flow in one direction. It closes to keep blood from moving backward when your heart beats. Mitral valve prolapse occurs when the valve does not close properly. This can lead to a leaky mitral valve, which can require repair or replacement of the valve through surgery. Some forms of mitral valve prolapse seem to be passed down through families. Learn all about this condition and innovative treatment options available at UF Health at this luncheon seminar.

The featured speaker will be Thomas Beaver, MD, MPH who is a surgeon with UF Health Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery.

Please note there is construction and Starting Jan. 26, vehicle access to the UF Health Shands Cancer Hospital via Archer Road and Circle of Hope Drive will be closed. All vehicle traffic must use the temporary access route via Southwest 16th Street.  Click here for more details and a map.

  • We encourage south campus patients and their visitors to use valet parking in the cancer hospital front circle, for free with a voucher. This is our preference to provide patients with convenient access.
  • Patients and their visitors can choose to self-park across the street in the north campus east patient/visitor garage (on Newell Drive) and walk back across Archer Road to the south campus. This is also free with a voucher.
  • Vouchers: As always, patients and their visitors must obtain a patient parking voucher after they receive care, from their outpatient check-out, nurses’ station or other location of service; then present the voucher to the valet staff or parking attendant upon exit for free parking.
