Cancer Connections - Monthly Educational & Networking Meeting

Jargon and technical terms are a barrier to patient access to information, participation and access to clinical care. Patient advocate and Executive Director of Facing Our Risk of Cancer Empowered (FORCE) Sue Friedman, DVM, presents on why the medical community, advocacy groups and researchers should adopt consistent and plain language terms for patient communications about cancer. Dr. Friedman will also provide results of a collective effort to reach consensus on terms used by stakeholders to describe tests used for precision medicine in cancer. Cancer Connections brings together cancer patients, survivors, caregivers, and cancer healthcare professionals who treat or provide a service to those affected by cancer. Attendees gain a deeper awareness of current research, treatment options, and healthcare services available for cancer care.
