About me

My name is Dianne Goede, MD, and I am an assistant professor of medicine within the division of general internal medicine. I received my medical degree from the University of South Florida and completed my residency and chief residency in internal medicine at the University of Florida.

I am the first physician in my extended family and was inspired to become a doctor because I sought to understand disease and apply that knowledge to improve patient’s lives. As a general internist, I care for the patient comprehensively. I assess the entire state of an individual’s health and help manage multiple chronic medical conditions at once. I am drawn towards internal medicine because I enjoy all of the subspecialties. Helping patients navigate complex chronic diseases comprehensively is the cornerstone of my daily clinical practice.

I primarily research in the areas of quality and safety clinical improvement and innovative practice models. I am proud of my research that impacts our delivery of clinical care including research on telemedicine and preventative care such as cervical cancer screening. I hold a niche interest in health policy and I teach in this area as well. I aim to continue my educational work with medical students and residents to ensure they understand how health policies impact the delivery of clinical medicine and train the future generation on how to continue system improvements.

I am currently working with the American Cancer Society to increase cervical cancer screening rates for patients seen in our General Internal Medicine clinics. I am also involved in a quality improvement project to increase the safety in our clinics by improving our team’s responsiveness to the most commonly encountered ambulatory emergencies.

I commonly provide treatments for anxiety, asthma, COPD, depression, diabetic care, hypertension and women’s health. I am an active member of the Society for General Internal Medicine (SGIM) and have been the recipient of the College of Medicine Exemplary Teacher Award and received the Division of Internal Medicine Patients First Award.

When I’m not practicing medicine, I enjoy reading fiction novels and exercising. Recently, I am attempting to learn how to sew.
