UF Health to host free cancer screenings for Oral, Head and Neck Cancer Awareness Week

This April, University of Florida Health is recognizing Oral, Head and Neck Cancer Awareness Week by offering free cancer screenings.

  • On Thursday, April 13, screenings will be administered at the Wyndham Garden Gainesville, 2900 SW 13th St., by appointment only.
  • On Tuesday, April 18, screenings will be administered to members of the community at The Waterfront Inn, 1105 Lake Shore Drive in The Villages.

UF Health is one of more than 250 sites worldwide participating in the events. Hosted by the Head and Neck Cancer Alliance, the week is a global initiative designed to promote awareness of oral, head and neck cancer and to detect cancer at its early stages of development.

Oral, head and neck cancer accounts for 3 percent of all cancers in the United States. The Head and Neck Cancer Alliance estimates there will be 13,190 deaths from head and neck cancer this year alone. Fortunately, there are many ways to decrease your risk* of developing head and neck cancer.

Oral, head and neck cancer screenings are available by appointment only, and are recommended for those 18 and over. To schedule your free screening, please call 352-733-0000.
