National Nurses Month: Recognizing Our Nurses and the Difference They Make

UF Health nurses

“At UF Health, our nurses are integral to our mission of providing the highest quality of care to our patients,” said Irene Alexaitis, DNP, RN, NEA-BC, UF Health chief nursing officer and Nursing and Patient Services vice president. “Nurses are there for patients and their families during some of the most challenging times in their lives, and it’s an honor to be able to support them in any way we can.”

Throughout the month, UF Health holds several events and activities to recognize and honor our nurses, including the Nightingale Ceremony, educational webinars and a prize giveaway. A special focus is on professional development, which is highlighted by continuing education courses and resources to help our nurses expand their knowledge and skills.

We’re grateful to have a team of nurses who are not only dedicated but also compassionate in their care for patients. We appreciate their hard work and unwavering commitment — not just during National Nurses Month — but every day of the year.

So, we celebrate our nurses and the incredible difference they make in the lives of our patients and the communities they serve!
